A Literary Feast

Want to taste a recipe before buying the book? That is exactly what you can do at the upcoming Literary Feast. So honored to be part of this event which features such cookbook authors  as Teri Sandison, Paula Wolfert, Dorie Greenspan, Joyce Goldstein, Diana Kennedy, Jerry DiVecchio, Amy Guittard,  Leslie Sbrocco, and Georgeanne Brennan, among many others.

WHEN: November 13, 3-6 p.m.

WHERE: San Francisco Ferry Building.

COST: $12 at the door.

Funds raised through the sale of $10 advance tickets ($12 at the door) will benefit the Culinary Scholarship Fund of Les Dames d’Escoffier San Francisco. For more than thirty years, the non-profit organization has supported aspiring women chefs, authors, scholars, and hospitality professionals.

Learn how to roll out Indian flatbread or chappatis, make Tea Stall Potatoes, and heirloom tomato yogurt Raita, at a South Indian cooking class hosted by Davis author Meera Klein. Recipes from Meera’s award-winning book will be featured in this class. Enjoy your meal with cardamom tea and conversation about life in a south Indian kitchen.
The meal is vegetarian but not vegan or Gluten-Free.

This year’s “Authors on the Move: Once Upon A Time” presents keynote speaker, Daniel Handler, a.k.a. Lemony Snicket and his recent book, All The Wrong Questions: “Shouldn’t You Be in School?”  Authors on the Move is known for bringing together 40 plus distinguished California authors with their recently published books for an evening of literary delight. Guests will enjoy a champagne reception, a four-course meal from the Hyatt Regency’s farm-to-fork Executive Chef, Jason Poole, unlimited wine, conversations with three regional authors at their table, Daniel Handler’s keynote presentation, and a live auction which features opportunities to win one-time author experiences. Chef Tony Gruska will prepare a five-course prix-fixe local organic vegetarian dinner using recipes from My Mother’s Kitchen, with author Meera Klein sharing vignettes about each dish.

Davis Enterprise wine columnist Susan Leonardi (Wineaux) will be pouring specially selected wines. Musical accompaniment will be provided by Matthew Grasso on raga guitar and Parteek Bansal on tabla.

Cost: $50 + taxes & service charges.

  • Wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages are available for an additional charge.
  • Seating is limited. 
  • Reservations and a non-refundable deposit of $20 are required.
